Limiting beliefs vs Empowering beliefs

Fear might be the biggest thing holding you back from achieving your greatest desires, but it's not the only BIG thing.

Your beliefs are truths that are conditioned in you, by you. They also control your actions to a large degree.

Consider this:

When you're called to travel to some far place, but you believe you have to take a lot of luggage, how do you feel about packing?

Usually, if the destination isn't great enough to mask the stress of the journey (in your mind), you would at least be reluctant to pack, or you'll postpone packing till the last minute.

What caused this attitude? Are you just naturally lazy?

When you go from thinking, "I'm leaving soon," to "ugh, I'll have to stand under the sun, sit in a cramped vehicle, not have network service for hours, etc," then you're already creating excuses in your mind that give birth to limiting beliefs.

When you allow your lack of belief in yourself to take over the wheel of your life, you become subject to remaining in your comfort zone.

It's called a "comfort zone," but there's nothing more self-destructive than remaining in it.

Sure, you may be sparing yourself from disappointments, setbacks, and even mockery. But what would you be gaining in return?

Are you growing? Are you surpassing your limits and unlocking the rest of your potential?

Dale Carnegie said it best, "the biggest plight of the human race is knowing you have more potential, but you're not utilizing it."

That word "potential" gets me every time. I have a personal history with that term.

Weeks before my final exams back in secondary school, a teacher of mine decided to share his assessment of a handful of students before the entire class, and surprise, surprise — I was one of them.

I can't remember what he said about the others, but I remember what he said about me:

"You have a lot of potential, but you're just wasting it."

Yep… seven years, and I still remember those words and how they cut like cold steel, brought out of a freezer.

Those words were the reason I fought to get the best results in my set — and I did.

Before that, I barely stood out. I was always comfortable being "good enough not to fail" that I didn't imagine I'd pull such a stunt.

The point is… there's a lot of untapped potential inside you that you conceal behind a veil of limiting beliefs.

You are capable of so much more than you can imagine if you learn how to change those limiting beliefs into empowering beliefs.

And why not?

How much have those limiting beliefs that you're average cost you?

When you see a scholarship opportunity, you don't bother to read the body because you "believe" you can't get it.

But someone who is human like you believes they can.

So, are those thoughts limiting you or empowering you?

The old beliefs you have — especially about yourself are not working, so change them until you find the ones that work!
